We often travel afar visiting many different venues across the entire south east, and sometimes further afield too, we meet many people on our travels and see a lot of different events and functions. This post was inspired by our client's from a recent 21st birthday party who we provided music entertainment for and what they did to create "a special night to remember" by working with what they could afford.
With an hour and a half ‘til kick off, we arrived at what looked like a normal sports club/village hall venue, we all know the stereotype, tennis courts right next door and a big stretch of grass just beyond! Our home for the night matched this stereotype beautifully until we walked inside. Not only had the room been dressed up with a few balloons, table cloths and the like but also the walls and the bar had also been decorated, turning what we can only assume was a "normal", white wash room into something exciting.
As well as a beautifully decorated room, the family of the young lad celebrating had put on a enormous spread of food. The buffet table literally reached from one end of the room to the other, only breaking at the door to the kitchen where all this wonderful food had been prepared. Needless to say, we setup our mobile disco and at 7.30pm guests started arriving.
We played a nice mix of commercial dance, up to date chart busters, some smooth R'n'B, as well as some good old fashioned cheese. Everyone had a great time, which was summed up by the birthday lad calling out to me thanking me for such a great night after inhaling some helium from a nearby balloon! His parents were impressed too, insisting we took two bottles of champagne with us. As we left we we're happy, knowing everyone enjoyed their evening no matter what the venue looked like from the outside.
The moral of the story? Making the most of what've you've got and working with that, to the best you possibly can save hundreds of pounds, as long as everyone enjoys the party why should it matter if you need to save pennies or pounds on a venue and hire somewhere other than the Ritz! As long as your guests are in good company and are being entertained by a professional entertainer who knows what they're doing your evening will come together, it certainly did for this party boy.
